The EU high-ranking delegation will arrive in Georgia March 3-4. The delegation will be headed by Miguel Angel Moratinos, Foreign Minister of Spain, presiding in the EU Georgian, Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a briefing today.
“The visit has a great importance,” she said.
She called Moratinos as “one of Georgia’s friends”, who has close relations with Georgian Foreign Minister. Security policy will be considered. Informing the delegation on the situation in South Ossetia and Abkhazia is in our interests. Implementation of the mandate of the EU observer mission in South Ossetia and Abkhazia will also be considered,” Kalandadze added.
Meetings will be held with President Mikheil Saakashvili, Parliament Speaker David Bakradze, State Minister for Reintegration Temur Yakobashvili and Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze during the visit.
The EU delegation also expressed desire to visit the Upper Lars checkpoint.
