Montenegro investigates alleged mass grave

Montenegrin authorities have begun an investigation in the Andrijevici area in the north of Montenegro into an alleged mass grave that reportedly contains bodies of Kosovo Albanian victims of war.

The exhumation at the site is being monitored by the Montenegro prosecution, the High Court of Bijelo Polje and the forensics department of the EU rule-of-law mission, EULEX.

Samples of bones were found in a wooden warehouse in which it was suspected that bodies of Kosovo Albanians are buried.

The spokesperson of the High Court of Bijelo Polje, Biljana Covic, said that investigations have started in order to find out if the samples of bones are human.

EULEX spokesperson Karin Limdal confirmed the presence of the EULEX forensics department in Andrijevici.
