Stefano Sannino, deputy director-general of the EU’s Directorate General for Enlargement, said two days ago that Montenegro has made significant progress in meeting the criteria for EU membership but has a lot of work to do.Sannino was attending the second meeting of the EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee in Podgorica.
He stressed the importance of the rule of law and respect for citizens’ freedoms, as well as parliament’s role in the country’s EU integration process. Sannino urged authorities to continue implementing judicial reforms and to keep fighting corruption and organised crime.
