OSCE adopted Kosovo organ trafficking resolution

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Belgrade adopted a resolution on Sunday calling for a comprehensive investigation into claims of organ trafficking during the Kosovo war.

The investigation will focus on abductions and other crimes related to the removal and sale of human organs allegedly committed in Kosovo during armed conflicts in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999.

In adopting the resolution, the OSCE invited the cooperation of UNMIK, EULEX and relevant national institutions to help gather all the information, facts and documents regarding human organ trafficking in Kosovo.

The resolution condemns any activity aimed at illicit trade in human organs, especially in cases where abductions are ethnically, religiously, racially or politically motivated.
