Pakistan, Egypt to enhance ties in defence production

Egypt’s Ambassador to Pakistan Sherif Shaheen called on Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain and discussed close collaboration between Pakistan and Egypt in the field of defence production.
During the meeting, minister for Defence Production said that Egypt has long history and a significant role in Muslim world. He said that future cooperation between the two countries in defence industry was very important.
He said that Pakistan was presently selling its traditional weapons to USA, UK, Germany and many other countries. He also offered JF-17 Thunder jet and Super Mashak to Egypt’s government. He said that already Iraq had signed an agreement to purchase 20 Super Mashak jets with Pakistan and the deal with Turkey to buy 52 jets was almost finalised.
Rana Tanveer said that Egypt also showed interest in buying JF-17 Thunder. He also emphasised on joint venture in defence production. He invited the Egyptian envoy to visit defence production establishments.
The Egypt’s ambassador said that his country admires strong and close ties with Pakistan and was interested for close cooperation in the field of defence production which would be helpful for other Muslim countries. He said that Egypt’s government was looking at collaboration in defence industry as the core of relations between Pakistan and Egypt.
