Washington reiterates support for Baghdad in face of terrorism

US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Robert Karem reiterated on Wednesday his country’s support for Iraq in the face of security challenges.
This came during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi today, a government statement said.
The US official commended what he described as “the bid development” of the Iraqi forces’ performance in combating sleeper terrorist cells, according to the statement.
For his part, Al-Abadi called for settling disputes in the region, referring that Iraq has started the phase of reconstruction after achieving victory over the terrorist groups.
The two sides also focused on bilateral cooperation between the two nations, regional developments and the US support for Iraq in the post-victory over IS phase, the statement concluded.
