Russian Air Force Attacks on Northwestern Syria, Opposition Bombs Government Position

The Russian Spring (RusVesna.SU) YouTube channel has released new video footage of the Russian Aerospace Forces targeting a jihadist base in the Idleb countryside.

“The Russian army continues to destroy military facilities of radical Islamists in Syria. At the disposal of Russian Spring were new exclusive footage of the airstrike in the province of Idleb. Combat aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces bombed an enemy object in the vicinity of Idleb – in the Maaret Misrin region in northwestern Syria,” the channel said.

“As it became known to Russian Spring, during the air raid, a warehouse of weapons of foreign mercenaries from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) was destroyed. On the web, using Google maps, they were able to calculate the exact coordinates of the impact three kilometers north of Maaret Misrin: 36 ° 2.507’N 36 ° 40.027’E,” they added.

The 12-second-long video released by the YouTube channel shows smoke from the targeted sites, but it is not clear if this is indeed a weapons warehouse.

Meanwhile, according to North Press on Wednesday, Turkish-backed armed opposition groups bombed positions of the Syrian government forces in the de-escalation zone.

A local source says that the Ansar al-Tawhid group targeted gatherings of the government forces with heavy artillery and BM-21 Grad rockets in Zawiya Mountain, in the southern countryside of Idleb.

Ansar al-Tawhid split from the Jund al-Aqsa group on Mar. 2, 2018, in Sarmin city. It includes about 800 fighters and is active on the fronts of Zawiya Mountain and less active in the countryside of Hama and Aleppo.

The targeting of the front lines resulted in direct casualties in the ranks of the government forces.

On Wednesday, government forces renewed their attacks on the positions and fortifications of the armed groups in the southern and eastern countryside of Idleb.
