Dozens of pairs of shoes were placed in front of the White House on Monday by pro-Palestinian demonstrators as a reminder of the children killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
“In honor of the children killed in Palestine,” read a sign.
The protesters, gathered at Lafayette Square in Washington, marked the first anniversary of the Israeli war in the besieged enclave.
Carrying Palestinian flags, they also held signs with messages such as: “Support the mothers and children of Gaza,” “Stop starving the children,” and “Stop arming Israel.”
Israel continued its brutal offensive on Gaza following the attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7 last year, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Since then, nearly 42,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed, and more than 97,300 have been injured, according to local health authorities.
Israel is facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice over the attacks in Gaza, Anadolu Agency reports.
