TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki stressed that his country plays a strategic role in energy transfer to Europe, specially following the latest developments in the Caucasus.
Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with his Belgian counterpart Karel de Gucht, on the sidelines of the 63rd annual session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday.
The minister reminded that since Iran is located in a sensitive and strategic region, it can play a key role in energy supply.
On Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, Mottaki underscored the need to resolve of the country’s nuclear issue through diplomacy.
According to the Islamic republic news agency, the Iranian foreign minister condemned the West’s double standard policy regarding terrorism and human rights.
He also criticized discriminatory policy of big powers toward Iraq and Afghanistan and the Muslim minorities in the European states.
The Belgian foreign minister said, for his part, that his country is against any kind of terrorism in the world.
