President urges Islamic states to help establish int’l peace

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Sunday that Islamic states should help establish peace and security in the world and promote the Islamic Ummah through expansion of their ties. President Ahmadinejad made the remark in the first round of talks with his Djiboutian counterpart Ismail Omar Guelleh, who arrived here Saturday on a three-day visit at the head of a high-ranking politico-economic delegation. “Islamic states shoulder a responsibility at the current sensitive juncture,” he said. He added, “Expansion of relations with African states particularly Islamic countries is among priorities of Iran’s foreign policy.” He expressed Iran’s readiness to expand economic, cultural and political cooperation with African states including Djibouti. The Iranian president said Africa is a land of “beauties, culture, civilization, love and wisdom” and added, “Expansion of ties between African states and independent countries will prepare ground for development of Africa.” The Djiboutian president, for his part, praised efforts made by Ahmadinejad to support the Islamic Ummah against the bullying powers and said all states know that Iran is not a threat to any country. They are aware that Iran would never accept threats and give up its inalienable rights, he said.
