Almost half of Macedonian MPs declare not being attached to secret services

MACEDONIA

Almost half of the 240 members of the Macedonian parliament have declared that they have not collaborated to the secret services in the first three days of the lustration process.

Up to present, declarations for non-affiliation to the secret services have been handed in by the Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, around 100 members of the parliament, parliament’s chairperson Trajko Veljanovski, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and several ministers and mayors.

The entire parliamentary group of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE declared yesterday before the lustration commission that its members have not collaborated with the state security services, have never ordered spying of people and have not used such information.
