BULGARIA
SAPARD program would be part of the talks at high level between Bulgarian Prime Minister (PM) Boyko Borisov and the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso. Thus political trust, which Bulgaria has expected, would come from the highest level, European Commissioner for Consumer Protection Meglena Kuneva said.
“Minister of Agriculture and Foods Miroslav Naydenov has his own responsibility under the SAPARD program. He is a person from the system and has good knowledge over the sector. What I did is to pay my colleagues attention to efforts he has made in Brussels,” she said.
Thus the final result, after European Commission and Bulgaria’s administrations have done their jobs, has been left for the meeting between Barroso and the PM. The key word during these meetings should be “trust”.
“Of course, it is good when the European Commission and Bulgaria’s institutions efforts give results, which can be seen by the people,” she said referring to unblocked farm aid funds for Bulgaria.
Kuneva said further she expects José Barroso to be reelected President of the European Commission.
