Droutsas says no need to upgrade diplomatic relations with Skopje

Greek Alternate Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas had said in a interview for Greece’s Skai Radio that there is no need to upgrade diplomatic relations with Skopje.

“I don’t see the reason for upgrading diplomatic relations with Skopje”, Droutsas said.

In Droutsas’ words, the process of seeking a solution to the Athens – Skopje dispute about the use of the name “Macedonia” will continue under the auspices of the United Nations but bilateral contacts could be helpful.

Asked about a proposal by Macedonia to upgrade the diplomatic missions in the two capital cities, Droutsas said that he had told Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki that they are pursuing a substantial improvement of the relations, but at this time he stressed that considering the level where these relations currently are, he sees no reason for such an upgrading.
