Turkish Republic of North Cyprus elected a president

The Sunday election inside the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of the North Cyprus were won by the prime minister Dervish Eroglu, the leader of the National Unity.

After processing 98,5% of the voting bulletins, Eroglu got 50,4% from the votes and his main opponent present president, Mehmet Ali Talat got 42,8%.

The winner declared that the peaceful negotiation process cu the Greek republic of Cyprus will continue. He will fight for international recognition of TRNC with the help of Turkey, which in 1974 has set 35 000 militaries in Cyprus in order not to allow the unification of Cyprus with Greece.

Previously, National Unity party won the election in the parliament as well.
