Italian diplomat Ettore Sequi has been appointed as head of the European Commission (EC) Delegation in Albania, succeeding Helmut Lohan, whose four-year mandate expires this month. The office of EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton announced the appointment Wednesday (September 15th), along with names of the bloc’s representatives in 25 countries. Sequi, 54, served in Albania from 2000 to 2004 as first counsellor, deputy head of the Italian Embassy. A career diplomat, he has also served as ambassador to Afghanistan and EU special envoy in Kabul.
