Bulgaria to discuss gas pipeline with Turkey

Bulgaria is seeking a deal with Turkey to construct a short pipeline connecting the countries’ domestic gas networks.

The issue is expected to be discussed when Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will visit Ankara on March 20. He will be accompanied by eight other ministers.

The European Union is willing to finance the project as part of efforts to diversify energy supplies.

The pipeline is intended to transfer gas from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria in emergency cases.
