3 quakes measuring 3.5, 3.9 and 3.9 degrees on the Richter scale jolted three regions in Iran’s central province of Fars on Monday. According to Fars seismological base affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quakes were registered at 12:48:49 and 15:42:04 hours local time (09:18:49 and 12:12:04 GMT).
The tremors hit the towns of Gerash, Pasargad and Kazeroon in southeastern, southern and northeastern Fars province, respectively.
There are yet no reports on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quakes.
Hectic fault lines have made southern and southeastern Fars province a host to frequent earthquakes of varying degrees in magnitude, some of which demolished a few towns in the area long time ago.
