CJTF-OIR strikes 31 IS positions in Syria and Iraq

imgThe US-led coalition launched a total of 31 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq against ISIL between 8 a.m. on Thursday, and 8 a.m. on Friday, local time, the Combined Joint Task Force for Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced in a statement. In Syria, attack, fighter, bomber, and drone aircraft launched 20 airstrikes: near Al Hasakah, where “three airstrikes struck two tactical units and destroyed an armored vehicle and an VBIED (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device),” near Dayr az Zawr, where one airstrike “struck a crude oil collection point,” and near Ain Al-Arab/Kobane, where “13 airstrikes struck a large tactical unit, eight tactical units, three fighting positions and destroyed 21 fighting positions, two staging areas, two tanks and three vehicles,” CJTF-OIR affirmed.
The operation continued near Tal Harris, where the final three airstrikes “struck three ISIL tactical units and destroyed a vehicle and a checkpoint,” the statement said.
In Iraq, attack, fighters, and drone aircraft launched 11 airstrikes: Near Al Asad, where “three airstrikes struck three ISIL tactical units and destroyed an ISIL building,” near Fallujah, where one airstrike “struck a tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL building,” and near Mosul, where “two airstrikes struck an ISIL checkpoint and an ISIL vehicle,” the statement said.
The operation continued near Hit in Al Anbar Province, where one airstrike “stuck a tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle,” near Ramadi, where “three airstrikes struck two tactical units and destroyed two ISIL buildings and an armored vehicle,” and near Rawah, where the final airstrike “destroyed an ISIL armored vehicle,” CJTF-OIR concluded.
