Mali's president praises Algeria's role in Malian peace deal

Visiting Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita on Monday hailed the key mediation role of Algeria in the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali.
“Our Algerian brothers did everything to make all antagonists feel at home ahead of the inter-Malian inclusive dialogue,” Keita told reporters after he met with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in Algiers.
Under the mediation of Algeria and the support of the international community, a peace and reconciliation deal was signed on May 20 in Bamako, after five rounds of peace negotiations between the Malian warrant parties in Algiers.
“The peace and reconciliation is supported by all the Malian people as it serves their interests. We are here to say thank you to Algeria as it has always been on our side,” Keita said.
