Libya agreed at the crossroads of the UN project: Egypt FM in Algeria

CAIRO: Libya is “important crossroads” linked to the United Nations draft agreement on Libya and its amendments, MENA Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry as saying Sunday in Algeria.
Shoukry arrived in Algeria on Sunday in a two-day visit for consultations on the situation in Libya with his Italian counterpart Paolo Gentiloni and Algerian Minister for Maghreb, Africa and the Arab League Abdul Qader Msahel business.
The agreement written by Bernardino León, head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya was discussed changes to meetings in Cairo and Alexandria between Libyan President Saleh and Akila Libya and other international parties, Shoukry said, adding that this is a sign that Libya is before the crossroads.
The tripartite meeting, which was also conducted in June, is not only to assess the situation, but also put a vision of the future in case the Libyan parliament approved the agreement and decided to support a government potential national unity to restore stability in the oil rich country.
A high-level coordination between Egypt and Algeria is underway, Shoukry said, adding that several proposals to resolve the crisis in Libya were presented at its recent meetings with Leon.
The proposals were shaped into clearer perspective after talks with Saleh, which can lead to a breakthrough, the Minister continued.
Since the Libyan uprising in February 2011 and the assassination of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi, Libya sank in the storm of deep security. It was controlled by the Islamists and extremists in the northern regions, while others came under the authority of the internationally recognized government based in Tobruk.
