Ahmadinejad calls for cooperation among independent states

venzoela.jpgPresident Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Saturday that further cooperation among independent states will strengthen their position in influencing the world affairs.
The president made the remark in a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez Frias on the sidelines of the second and final day of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit here.
“Tehran and Caracas, as two important members of the Non-Aligned Movement can play an effective role in strengthening the movement and turning it into a more effective tool,” he said.
President Ahmadinejad also hailed Venezuela’s support for the righteous stands of the Iranian nation in acquiring peaceful nuclear technology.
“Thanks to the efforts of its offsprings, the Iranian nation has acquired peaceful nuclear technology. We consider utilization for peaceful purposes of this technology in various fields, including medical and agricultural energy is our inalienable right.” Referring to the common and independent stands of the two countries in world issues, Chavez stressed the importance of promotion of Tehran-Caracas ties.
He stressed that Venezuela favors strengthening of ties with Iran in various fields, particularly in auto and tractor manufacturing, mass production of housing units, transportation and energy sectors.
Referring to Ahmadinejad’s visit, Chavez expressed hope the trip would help further promote brotherly and friendly ties between the two countries.
