European Commission (EC) Vice-President Jacques Barrot says Serbia has fulfilled all conditions for visa liberalization.
As of December 19, its citizens should be able to travel freely in the Schengen space, said this EC official in charge of justice, freedom and security.
In an exclusive interview for the Thursday issue of Belgrade daily Večernje Novosti, Barrot, congratulated the citizens of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia on visa liberalization and commended them on the progress achieved in reforms.
“I will propose to the EU Council of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs, which will meet on November 30, that visas should be abolished,” Barrot said.
“I believe that this will not be a problem. Everything is prepared and the experts of EU member states could see for themselves that the set conditions have been met.”
