Greek President Karolos Papoulias has send his response to his Macedonian counterpart Gjorgje Ivanov and pointed out that he would come and visit Macedonia as soon as the name issue is settled.
“I read your letter with great interest. Greece strongly supports the good neighborly relations with all neighboring countries, including yours. I would like to visit Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia as soon as the name issue is settled”, the letter reads.
“I don’t want to be the one to suggest what’s best for your country. I strongly recommend evaluating the current situation in your country. The name solution will be useful for your people. I have to point out that the longer it takes to solve name dispute, the longer it will take FYROM to join EU and NATO. I hope I’ll have the opportunity to visit your country, when name dispute will be behind us”, the letter reads.
The letter came as a response to the invitation sent by Macedonian President Gjorgje Ivanov.
