Tadić: Ganić can be extradited to Bosnia

Serbian President Boris Tadić said on Sunday that Serbia has nothing against the extradition of Ejup Ganić to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Muslim member of Bosnia’s war-time presidency is wanted in Serbia on a war crimes warrant, and in currently in Britain, after he was released from custody on bail.

Ganić’s extradition to Serbia is not the central issue, the central issue is that he should stand trial, Tadić said.

Serbia has nothing against extradition of Ganić to the judiciary authorities of his own country – Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tadić said.

“All countries in the region must complete their cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia,” he said.

Ganić was arrested in London on March 1, on a Serbian war crimes warrant accusing him of killing members of the former Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) in Sarajevo’s Dobrovoljačka Street in May 1992.

He was released on bail from extradition detention pending trial.

Both Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina have requested his extradition.
