Georgia is yet to take its decision though Azerbaijan has made up its that its state oil company SOCAR would like to buy out the Georgian section of the Russia-Georgia-Armenia natural gas pipeline.
“The decision on the gas main may be taken with due regard for both states’ interests,” said Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze on Monday.
SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev has made an official statement about the company’s intention to buy the Georgian section of the gas pipeline, known as the North-South gas main.
The SOCAR president expects the purchase would help accelerate the implementation of the Interconnector Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania (AGRI) project, which delivers liquefied Azerbaijani natural gas to Romania via Georgia and the Black Sea.
