Bulgarians from Moldova get Romanian citizenship to settle in Bulgaria

Members of the Bulgarian minority of Republic of Moldova that have waited in vain for Bulgarian citizenship get now Romanian citizenship, a governmental official of Sofia stated, DECA-press informs.

„I have already faced some curious cases. Although getting Romanian citizenship, Bulgarians from Moldova settle in Bulgaria”, the Bulgarian Minister Bojidar Dimitrov said, quoted by Focus Agency.

The official also said this phenomenon was due to the quick reaction of Romania to demands filed by Moldovan citizens.

DECA-press Agency informs that, according to the data of the latest census, nearly 2% of the population (nearly 3,4 million) are Bulgarians. Most of them – nearly 28,3 thousand – live in Taraclia district, South of the country.
