DRC: Thirteen dead in an attack on a convoy carrying the pay of civil servants in the South Kivu

Thirteen people were killed in the eastern DRC during the attack on their convoy, which was carrying about 40,000 dollars for adjusting the balance of civil servants.
According to the Congolese Minister of the Economy, Modeste Bahati, the attack took place Sunday, September 27 in the afternoon in the district of Uvira, in South Kivu province. According to the Trust Merchant Bank (TMB), responsible for conveying the funds, and a military source, eleven soldiers escorting the convoy and two civilians were killed.
The convoy was attacked near the end of his tour, when he went up to Lemera on the media trays, after going through Uvira, on Lake Tanganyika and Sange in the Ruzizi plain. In addition, “two soldiers and four civilians were seriously injured,” said an officer of the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) on condition of anonymity.
In a statement Monday, September 28, TMB indicates that its four employees on board the convoy survived, which was confirmed by the officer, noting that all were unharmed.
